Trade 1 Tasting Ticket For 1 Rib Bone at Rib Stands While They Last. Tasting Window Ends Promptly at 4:30PM. No exceptions. Turn in Your People’s Choice Ticket to The Rib Competitor of Your Choice by 4:45PM.

Official Team Rules & Registration

  • Each team will need to supply its own cooker. All types of cookers are welcome; however, you must also supply your own power source as there will be no electricity available. All cooking must be done on-site other than sauces.

  • Every team is assigned a 20’x20’ area. This is an uncovered area, Plan to bring your own tent, etc. All cookers, supplies and all equipment must remain within the team’s designated area. Please keep your area clean during the event. Once the event is over, please clean your area leaving nothing behind.

  • EACH TEAM WILL RECEIVE 12 RACKS OF SPARERIBS SUPPLIED BY GRUNDHOFER’S. In the event a team is unable to cook all 12, they will be given to another team. Teams are responsible for all other supplies necessary to compete, including ash bucket.

  • Absolutely no outside alcohol is allowed. Any individual or team that is found in violation of this rule will be disqualified immediately. There will be a mobile bar making the rounds. Beer Garden will be open early for competitors.

  • Doors open at 6:30 am. Teams will be directed by staff to their designated spot to unload. Once unloading is done, vehicles and trailers must be parked in the designated parking area.

  • A mandatory meeting will be held at approximately 8 am when the gates close.

  • PUBLIC TASTING IS AT 3:30 PM. All competitors must be ready to furnish samples to the public from 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm or while they last. Public will trade one tasting ticket for one rib bone.

  • The public will vote for their favorite rib using their special voting ticket. Competitors are responsible for turning these tickets in to Lions Ribfest Tent. Any voting tickets turned in after 5 pm will not be counted. Lions Staff will begin tallying voting tickets at 4:45 pm.

  • JUDGING PANEL consists of 3 celebrity judges and 2 KCBS judges who will score for taste, tenderness, and appearance. Present your turn-in boxes with a minimum of 6 individual ribs to the Lions Ribfest Tent between 3:30 - 3:50 pm.

  • AWARDS will be announced after tally is complete and confirmed. Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and People’s Choice
